Day 91- Nasty Weather

I've lived in Central Florida for 31 years and have seen many hurricanes, thunderstorms and intense lightning but weather doesn't usually rattle me.  BUT, twice in 2 days I have left the house with the kids while it was raining to see the weather quickly take a turn for scary and dangerous.  Within 3 minutes of leaving, we were having 70 mph wind gusts!  Twice we have turned around and headed back into the garage until it has passed.  More cray weather is in store for us today.

(While I was typing this post the power flickered and I had to reboot and retype the whole post!)

Day 90- Cooties

I loved playing the game Cooties when I was little and this is the same set from my childhood.  N was home with a stomach virus so we played lots this morning.

Day 89- The Results

Day 88- Sleeping Beauties

My oldest has been on a curly hair kick.  She went to see Wicked on Sunday and to dress up, she asked for hot rollers in her hair.  She liked it so much that Sunday evening she asked to sleep in sponge curlers.  Today at school, she got so many compliments she not only plans to sleep in them every night but has inspired her two followers younger sisters to also sleep in in sponge rollers. 

Day 87- Strawberry Picking

Every Spring we visit the strawberry patch to pick our own berries, ride the hayride, zipline, tire swing, roast hotdogs on an open fire and enjoy their strawberry milkshakes.  Today was even better since Lauren helped one of her best buddies celebrate her birthday there too!

Day 86- Dog Lovers

Our dog Daisy loves kids, but every once in a while she needs a breather and some down time.  These two didn't want agree and decided to watch her through the doggie door.

Day 85- Flat Stanley

After forgetting all week to bring Flat Stanley with us on our adventures of Spring Break, he made it to feed the stingrays at Sea World.

Day 84- Visiting Dad at Work

On days when the girls are home for school but Jason is still working, we make plans to meet for lunch.  We enjoy greasy pizza then the girls love to play office in his office.  They make calls (to my cell phone), oggle over the multi colored paper clips and cover his window with "I Love Dad!" post it notes.  Not sure who loves these visits more, him or them.

Day 83- LG

We are (obviously) loving the free Instagram photo app.

Valla snapped this one of her little sister on our way to the beach.  I told her she should post to her own blog, I love to see her creativity.

Day 82- Glamorous Granddaughters

Their Nana loves a good mani/pedi and treated them (& me!) to a spa visit.  Two year old piggies in the "hot tubs" as she called them were adorable.  She asked about everything in there... "Why she rub your feet?"  "Why she (the acrylic nail tech) wearing a mask?"  "Why there lots of hot tubs?"  Nat sat back to enjoy the massage chair and proclaimed, "I LOVE SPRING BREAK!"  Me too :)

Day 81- Spring Break Gaming

Spring Break is awesome.  The girls pulled out the Horse-opoly game and for 2 hours were very content.  They also worked on their counting, adding and math skills. :)

Day 80- Old Mc Donald Had a Family

LG loves animals so it was time to take her to the petting farm.  We went with a bunch of friends and family to get the group rate, yea for a 50% discount!

She had a blast and cried this evening when she asked if she could go back.  Her favorite animal according to her?.... the donkey.

Day 79- Friends

Today we celebrated Kara and her baby Xander due to be born in a few weeks! 
These are my friends from high school and I love, love, love that we are still in touch and get together.   Some I've known for 30 (holy freaking crap!) years and some for only 20 years!  Sometimes it's pretty neat living in the town I grew up in.

Day 78- FAIL

Had the iphone camera out and ready to snap then the moment passed.  :(

Remembered around 10:30 and meant to take a photo of the orchid and forgot. :(

Day 77- Sewing

Beginning to learn to sew was not on my pressing "To Do" list for today, but it was the only thing on my "Want To Do" list today.

Both of my Grandmothers, Anna & Bonnie, were great seamstresses; fashioning their children's clothes, dolls, Barbie clothes and even professional drapes for JC Penney.  My mother is an extremely talented and patient crafter of many arts including sewing (she made my sister's prom dress!)  I've always felt I should learn to sew.  Don't I owe it to my kids to be able to whip up a custom Halloween costume should they desire something not sold at Party City? (not sure that's possible, have you seen their selection!) I however lack the spacial sense and patience required and honestly haven't but my best effort into my previous failed attempts to be taught. (Pretty sure I've said, "Can't we just use a glue gun to put it all together?!)

My oldest is in love with Little House on the Prairie and wants a pinafore for the upcoming Pioneer Day at school.  My husband has encouraged me skip the stress and go for eBay but I'm enjoying the lessons of a tradition passed down.  That being said, my mother is an excellent teacher and am simply cutting and sewing exactly where she tells me and when I did continue without her... I then spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how I managed to sew the arm holes inside out, ripping out the seams and fixing them!

Day 76- Photo Shoot

While the older 2 had dance class, I put a pretty dress on LG and took about 98 photos of her downtown.  I'm not really happy with them!  I guess I need to learn how to use my camera!

Day 75- To Catch a Leprechaun

My 6 yo had to make a Leprechaun trap for school.  She's hoping he'll be attracted to the rainbows and the glitter smiley face on the lid.  Then he'll be enticed by the shiny glitter and gold and walk up the ramp and fall into the hole where he'll find more glitter inside the box.  

Hope she catches something good!

Day 74- Small Victory

Yesterday while hanging out at kid birthday party I was totally not watching the birthday girl open her presents but instead catching up on some of my favorite photography blogs.  On one I found this free iphone camera app, Instagram, that I tried out today.  Cool filters and effects :)

Today she reached a BIG milestone on the road to diaper freedom!  Here was our celebratory ice cream.  Fingers crossed this is the beginning of something big!

Day 73- Handy Daddy

So it takes me 3 months to make an 18 inch wreath and it takes my husband only two days to make this!

Thanks to a generous Nana, a handy Dad and a super helpful Grandpa Tom my girls (and the neighbors) will have many happy times in our backyard. :)

Day 72- My Crafty Creation

It's finally finished and hanging on my front door!

I was inspired (way back in Nov) by a project featured on one of my favorite blogs, tatortots & jello, which is really a blog telling you about other cool blogs!  I knew I wouldn't be able to squeeze the Christmas themed ribbon wreath into the already packed holiday schedule, so I shot for Spring!  Click here to see the tutorial from the creator's blog.

Day 70- Indoor Camping

Here is our Daisy troop and their indoor camping complete with a non burning campfire, sleeping bags, campfire flame hats with camp names and s'mores!

Day 68- Swing Girl

When we came to look at buying this house, the owners had a hammock like chair swing on the back patio.  My kids didn't care about picking out what room would be theirs but were DYING to ride in the chair.  We ended up getting the house and my mom surprised the kids with an internet purchase of an almost identical chair swing.  

This swing is used daily, many times a day.  All 3 girls can squeeze themselves in together.  LG is the most frequent visitor to the swing. She prefers to plunge face first into the netting, push with her feet then pull them up as she sails to and fro.  She reminds me of an actress flying like Tinkerbell on a stage performance.  

Day 67- Another Inspired Artist

These $1 plaster figurines from Michael's, paint and a little glitter made her happy.

Day 66- My Inspired Artist

Can you guess what movie the girls watched this morning?!

My nine year old was inspired.  So inspired she's working on a collection of Disney Princesses.  Sleeping Beauty is in the works.

Day 65-Bonding Time

Man I love this kid.

It was such a great weekend with all the Girl Scouts.  I was so proud of how they behaved, got a long with everyone in our troop, participated fully, helped each other and had fun.  There are times when being the leader of both V's and N's troops is too much, but it's weekend's like these that make me so glad I do.  A lot of the girls and their parents also showed their appreciation, which is always nice.

Day 64- Camporee Fun

 We took 10 Girl Scouts to our region's Camporee weekend on Friday.  The girls had a blast!  Aren't the cabins nice?!

Day 63- Tending the Garden

Day 62- SWAPs

This weekend is our Girl Scout Camporee (camping event) and my girls were very excited to make their first SWAPs.  Little items you trade with other girl scouts.  Valla made little bed rolls.

Day 61- Fun with Dirty Laundry

It's their job to get the dirty clothes from upstairs into the downstairs laundry room.  They have quite a fun time with it by stuffing pillow cases and shirts full of the dirty clothes before tossing them over the upstairs landing then collecting them below and carting them into the laundry room.  Little L even got a ride out of the deal!
